چکیده

PurposeIntra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy is often used to bridge patients durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD). We examined the hemodynamic changes following IABP insertion in cardiogenic shock requiring LVAD therapy.MethodsWe performed a retrospective observational study of receiving an as from 2015-2021. Hemodynamic metrics including right atrial pressure (RAP), pulmonary artery pressures (PAP), mixed venous oxygen saturation (SvO2), and cardiac output/indices (CO/CI) were collected at 1-hour, 24-hours, 48-hours post-IABP well day LVAD. Post-IABP measures compared pre-IABP state. Heart failure-related labs drawn prior 48 hours post-IABP. All p values < 0.05 considered significant.ResultsA total 104 analyzed. Mean (SD) age was 55.8 (11.9) years old median (IQR) days on support 4.5 (3.1). Improvement RAP PAP noted 24- placement placement. SvO2 CO/CI higher all time points (Figure). with exception sodium improved 48-hour interval (Table).ConclusionIABP improves profiles bridged early 1-hour post-placement persists until implantation. IABPs can serve effective platform selected Future research should be focused identification predictors response advanced heart failure patients. Intra-aortic therapy. significant. A (Table).

Bridge to Transplantation with a Left Ventricular Assist Device

A 61-year-old female patient was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricle dysfunction. Two days after admission, continuous renal replacement therapy was performed due to oliguria and lactic acidosis. On the fifth day, an intra-aortic balloon pump was inserted due to low cardiac output syndrome. Beginning 4 days after admission, she was supported for 15 days thereafter w...

Effects of a left ventricular assist device with a centrifugal pump on left ventricular diastolic hemodynamics.

The purpose of this investigation was to analyze how left ventricular assist device (LVAD) with a centrifugal pump alters left ventricular diastolic hemodynamics and energy by means of a left ventricular pressure volume relationship. Fifteen anesthetized normal pig hearts were studied after placement of an apical drainage LVAD with a centrifugal pump. Indices of the left ventricular isovolumic ...

Intra-aortic balloon pumping: effects on left ventricular diastolic function.

OBJECTIVE The intra-aortic balloon pump is the most widely used form of temporary cardiac assist and often utilised in patients before and after cardiac surgery. Several effects of balloon counter-pulsation have been reported previously, but its effect on left ventricular diastolic function has not been thoroughly investigated. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the intra-aortic ...

The PUCA pump: a left ventricular assist device.

Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) that are being used clinically still have specific drawbacks. Therefore, a new concept for mechanical circulatory support was developed, the pulsatile catheter (PUCA) pump. It consists of an extracorporeally placed, pneumatically driven membrane pump that is connected to a valved catheter. The catheter is introduced into an easily accessible artery and po...

Theoretical Estimation of Cannulation Methods for Left Ventricular Assist Device Support as a Bridge to Recovery

Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) support under cannulation connected from the left atrium to the aorta (LA-AA) is used as a bridge to recovery in heart failure patients because it is non-invasive to ventricular muscle. However, it has serious problems, such as valve stenosis and blood thrombosis due to the low ejection fraction of the ventricle. We theoretically estimated the effect of the...
